Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) Compliance

From 1 July 2026, new Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) obligations apply to certain services provided by accounting firms.

These requirements are designed to help protect Australia's financial system from money laundering, terrorism financing and other financial crime.

What this means for you

Where the AML/CTF requirements apply to the services we provide, Jem Accountancy may need to complete additional client identification and due diligence checks.

This may include verifying your identity and obtaining information about your business structure, ownership and the nature of the services you require.

These checks are a legal requirement and are not a reflection on you or your business.

What we may ask for

Depending on the services we provide, we may ask you to provide identification documents and other information, such as details of beneficial owners, directors, trustees or other persons who control an entity.

Jem Accountancy uses AMLHUB and its service providers and verification functionality to support digital identity verification and AML/CTF screening.

Where required, you may receive a secure link to complete the identity verification process.

If you do not provide the information

Where information or identity verification is required by law, we may be unable to provide certain services or establish or continue our relationship with you if the required information is not provided.

Your personal information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and our legal and professional obligations.

For more information about AML/CTF requirements, visit AUSTRAC.
